Our Mission:

We sing great choral literature for the education and enjoyment of our greater community. 

Chorale Bel Canto of Whittier, California is composed of over 80 selected voices from Whittier and surrounding areas, and made its debut performance on Saturday, December 4, 1982 at the Whittier Presbyterian Church performing Handel's Messiah under the direction of founder Whittier College Professor of Music, Stephen Gothold.

Since then, the Chorale has made numerous appearances including performances in Japan in 1994 and at the Hollywood Bowl in 1995 as it joined together with 1000 singers from America and Japan to sing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. In 2001, members of the Chorale -- along with Whittier College students, alumni, and members of the Imperial Valley Choral Society -- toured Eastern European countries and performed selections of American hymns, spirituals, and sacred songs.
 

 

The online portion of Chorale Bel Canto 2008 is now open. The auction will run from February 11, 2008 to March 8, 2008, with the live event taking place on March 8, 2008. Proceeds go to Chorale Bel Canto in order to support classical choral concerts in the San Gabriel Valley, Whittier, educational institutions, and music in the surrounding communities. Auction items range from exotic vacation getaways to donated items guaranteed to delight and surprise. So, tell your friends, family, community. Let the bidding begin!

A Live Silent Auction will be held in conjunction with our annual Cabaret fundraiser which will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Whittier First United Methodist Church, 13222 Bailey Street, Whittier, CA 90601 in the Social Hall located on Friends Ave. between Bailey and Philadelpha Streets at 4:00 p.m.  The afternoon's theme is "An Afternoon at the Movies" featuring musical selections from West Side Story, Mary Poppins, and Guys and Dolls showcasing ensemble and solo performances by the Chorale and its members.  Snacks and refreshments appropriate to the them will also be featured as well as an opporunity drawing for prizes as well as a 50/50 at the conclusion of the fundraiser.
